It’s been a productive early season for Leicestershire’s Lizzie Warner. The 15 year old won the Cadet Ladies Recurve in both the GB and England Selection shoots and as a result has been selected for GB for the World Youth Championships in America (along with Jon Bull and Bradley Denney from the East Midlands) and for England in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in September. She followed up her selections by breaking the national record in the Cadet WA60m, the round she’ll be shooting in America and Samoa, at Welbeck on the May Bank Holiday Monday.
Although she has competed several times for England, in the indoor and outdoor Home Nations as well as the Euronations, it is the first time she has been selected for GB. She is particularly pleased by her selection for the Commonwealth Games as only one boy and one girl are selected from each country. It’s the first time that archery has been included in the Commonwealth Youth Games.
